A police officer has been charged with 10 counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and one of perverting the course of justice.
The Cleveland Police officer is due to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 30. The officer has been suspended from duty and remains in custody. The matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which is a mandatory requirement in these circumstances.
A spokesperson for the force said the officer
has been charged with ten counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and one count of perverting the course of justice and is due to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, July 30. He remains in custody at this time.
